Origin Of Name:"Brown Springs Creek and the springs at the base of a sandstone bluff nearby were named for Lieutenant John Brown, Company E, Eleventh Ohio Cavalry. Brown had been wounded near there on July 20, 1864 while pursuing the Indians who had captured emigrant Fanny Kelly. Brown died the next morning at the soldier's camp at the creek."(Diaries)
