This is another sandstone cliff on which emigrants cut names and dates. It is several hundred feet long and is on the west bank of the Green River. This cliff has "James Bridger - Trapper - 1844" carved on it, but it must have been done by someone other than Bridger because he couldn't write. Haines quotes Bruff (1849) as describing some Indian art which was on the cliffit is no longer there. There is a camping place near the cliff between Green River and Fontenelle Creek. The Trail above has been damaged by pipeline or cable laying. (Wyoming Recreation Commission, 1984) |
