Name:Horse Creek
Origin Of Name:Horse Creek is one of the early named features of southeastern Wyoming. Nathaniel Wyeth called it "Wild Horse Creek." (The Correspondence and Journals of Captain Nathaniel J. Wyeth, 1831-1836) The stream is mentioned by John Fremont in his 1842 expedition through southeastern Wyoming. (Fremont) F.V. Hayden discusses it in his "Preliminary Report of the United States Geological Survey of Wyoming and portions of contiguous territories" about his 1870 survey of the region. William Henry Jackson accompanied Hayden on this survey and photographed Horse Creek. (Hayden, 1870)

Description:Horse Creek is a tributary of the North Platte River. It heads in the mountains west of Cheyenne and flows most of the length of Laramie County and a portion of Goshen County before joining the Platte River in Scottsbluff County, Nebraska. (WSL)
