Origin Of Name:Named in honor of General Phil Sheridan, of the United States Army, Sheridan County lies in the heart of the Big Horn Mountains. It is midway between the Black Hills and Yellowstone National Park. Organized in 1888. County seat is in Sheridan. (WPA)
