Probably named for A. R. Converse, territorial treasurer. (Gannett, 1905) Named for A.R. Converse, a stockman, of Cheyenne, and Territorial Treasurer of Wyoming, who played an important part in the development of the county. County seat is in Douglas. (WPA)
