Name:Meeteetse Creek
Origin Of Name:During the summer of 1873, Captain William A. Jones led an expedition from Fort Bridger into Northwestern Wyoming and the Yellowstone region. On July 24th, they "marched seventeen miles to a small tributary of the Stinking Water [now Shoshone River] which I have named Mee-tee-tsee - a Shoshonee name." (Jones)
