Origin Of Name:Named for William L. Sublette, fur trader and trapper, who discovered Jackson Lake, south of Yellowstone Park in 1828. Most of the boundary lines of this county are formed by natural barriers, making it a complete geographical unit. Organized in 1923. County seat is in Pinedale. (WPA)
