Rongis

Name:Rongis
Origin Of Name:"How this postoffice came to be called "Rongis" forms an interesting bit of early-day history. When Judge J. M. Carey was in congress, he received a petition for the establishment of this office, and the name suggested for it was "Signor," after E. A. Signor who owned the ranch and who now runs a story at Hailey, Wyo. Judge Carey didn't want to offend Signor, but vetoed the idea of calling it "Signor." As a compromise, he suggested turning Signor's name around and "Rongis" it has been since, although few people ever knew why." (Laramie Republican, December 7, 1915, page 2) The local name for the location is Burnt Ranch. (Wyoming Post Offices)
