Origin Of Name:Named by the Mennonites, who settled there, as a "Land of Promise." (Annals of Wyoming 14:3) Named by the Mennonites who settled there. Eden Valley irrigation project is one of the largest in Wyoming. At Eden is the crossing where Horace Greeley spent the night of August 16, 1859 in a log house, which was the only one between Fort Bridger on the Black's Fork and Old Fort Laramie. (WPA)
