Origin Of Name:Named after E. L. Pease, President of the Territorial Legislative Council in 1875 when Crook and Pease Counties were created. Pease County was never organized under that name. In 1879 the Sixth Legislative Assembly changed it to Johnson County. (Wyoming Historical Blue Book, 1946)
