Name:Roaring Mountain
Origin Of Name:Mountain, altitude 8,000 feet, Yellowstone National Park, Wyo. So named because of noise of steam escaping constantly from vents near the summit. (Decisions, 1930) Named by Hague of the U. S. Geological Survey in 1886. "It takes its name from the shrill, penetrating sound of the steam constantly escaping from one or more vents near the summit." (Chittenden, 1895)
