| Many streams in this area are called "Muddy." The main emigrant crossing was at "Crooked Muddy Creek." This was a difficult crossingapparently it had to be ferried at times since use of a raft was mentioned in one emigrant diary in 1849. In the 1860s, Reshaw built another toll bridge here, with log cabins for attendants. It was also a Pony Express stop which was called Bridger Station in the mail contract. At one time it was also known as Snow Creek Bridge. (Wyoming Recreation Commission, 1984) |
