| Creek, Grand Teton National Park, Teton County, Wyo., flows from Teton Glacier ... southeast into Cottonwood Creek. Named because of the milky color of its water which is characteristic of all streams originating at the terminus of flowing ice fields. Cascade Creek flows southeast from Lake Solitude into Jenny Lake. Name proposed by Superintendent Woodring of the Grand Teton National Park to supercede the name Glacier, which is a misnomer. The name Glacier has been transferred to a hitherto unnamed creek, flowing from Teton Glacier and showing the milky color characteristic of such streams. (Decisions, 1931) |
